| The
twig motif of Kennebec is based on a particular Chinese fretwork
pattern called “Cracked Ice,” updated here in a fantasy woodland
style, with branches appearing to float through ambient painted space.
The non-directional composition skillfully hides a 27-inch repeat, allowing
this seemingly random pattern to cover large expanses without reiteration.
For its elegant border, Fischer created delicate Gothic arches constructed
out of smaller branch elements. The border adds a touch of architectural
