Kalaheo Botanica

Following the style of Roman grisaille paintings, Kalaheo Botanica is a fantasy of exotic fruits and flowers. Imagined here as pages of botanicals, the principal “specimens” have a carefully wrought, almost scientific precision. Lightly sketched plates of stylized foliage are arrayed throughout, giving the composition a dynamic asymmetry. Fischer’s dappled stony pattern fills the ground and unifies the design.
